Required Skills CAD Excel Job Summary We’re looking for an Estimator or Trainee Estimator to join a growing construction team in Swindon, working within the residential new-build sector. This is an ideal opportunity for someone with either hands-on site experience or early-stage estimating/quantity surveying knowledge looking to take a step into a structured and supportive commercial role. Experience Experience working in the housebuilding or residential construction industry (on-site or in a commercial office role) Some previous experience in estimating or quantity surveying is preferred Proficient in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, linking between sheets, formulas) Exposure to CAD/CAM systems or electronic measurement tools (e.g. Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Planswift) Strong written English and confidence formatting reports or tender documents Excellent attention to detail and numeracy Methodical, organised, and self-motivated Comfortable liaising with clients, subcontractors, and colleagues Able to work independently as well as part of a team Job Responsibilities Accurately measure quantities from drawings using CAD/CAM or electronic take-off tools Prepare material and labour cost estimates for residential construction projects Maintain and update cost databases and tender documentation Analyse and compare supplier quotes Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure smooth procurement and pricing Work closely with technical, buying, and construction teams to maintain cost control Assist in cost value reconciliation and project cost tracking Support senior estimators with data input, report formatting, and project summaries Ensure all data is organised, clearly presented, and easy to interpret in Excel and Word
