We are currently looking to recruit a part-time Ward Clerk (30 hours p/w – Friday, Saturday, Sunday & Monday) to our Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). The role of the ward clerk is vital to the BCH as you will play a crucial role in the smooth running of what is a very important, sensitive, and busy ward. You will also be required to work on the PICU Reception Desk, so a friendly and welcoming demeanor and calmness under pressure are essential for this role. Flexibility and a can-do attitude are also vital for this post as you will need to be approachable and keen to learn any new processes in this critically important, highly supportive, and team-focused environment.
Responsibilities:
1. Acting as the first point of contact for the ward, greeting and signposting patients and relatives.
2. Processing patients using Careflow & Phillips.
3. Liaising with all clinicians and colleagues to facilitate a smooth and timely stay with the ward.
4. Sending out patient discharge letters.
5. Attending daily board round meetings.
6. Organising parental accommodation and ensuring parents and visitors have parking permits.
7. Reporting on Agility & MEMO.
8. Maintaining paper and electronic records.
The right candidate will be responsible for setting high standards of patient care by enacting the Trust’s values at all times.
