Hours of Work: 4.5 day week Staff Benefits: Life Insurance, Medicash scheme, Free car parking on site, Canteen, Career progression, Flexitime #wbstaff Job Title: Quality Engineer (Electrical/Electronic) Department: Quality Reports To: Quality Manager Purpose of Post The QE will be responsible for electrical/electronic assemblies and components, supplier quality and factory/field support. The QE will investigate, evaluate, and resolve Electrical quality problems by conducting defect investigations, analysing defect trends, and leading continuous improvement projects. The QE will lead and conduct containment efforts, maintaining traceability of actions and delegating accordingly, to ensure the swift containment of non-conformances and field product issues. Additionally, frequent interaction and status reporting to internal and external customers is required. Key Tasks & Responsibilities: Performing investigation of all electrical related production failures Analysing of production data and reports to identify opportunities for improvement and prevent reoccurrence of issues Supporting Electrical system, software / Hardware requirements for New projects. Support and work with SQA to manage electrical related quality issues in the supply chain. Generate weekly/monthly reports for management including analysing Production reject trends, Scrap cost and investigation updates Follow NCRs through to closure and implementation of Corrective actions Support all customer meetings, daily, weekly, monthly for electrical related issues Respond to Customer complaints, putting in place containment actions, full analysis, poka-yokes and implementing countermeasures. Ensure Electrical Quality Technicians checks and daily activities are focused on Quality assurance and the prevention of reoccurring issues Identify any operator training needs required to meet WMP/quality standards and refer to Level 4 operators and/or Safety Auditors to undertake training. Where necessary, complete the relevant training record. Be the main point of contact in the designated area for quality and ensure that quality standards are consistently met. Ensure that tools are calibrated with an agreed schedule. Train others in all aspects of the quality system and application of procedures Undertake internal QMS audits to ISO:9001 standard Participate in external and third-party audits Inspection Carry out various inspection and testing to a defined standard Identifying and diagnosing defects / faults when they occur Validate any rework of identified defects or uncompleted work after correction. Ensuring that all relevant paperwork and reports are completed accurately and on-time Ability to read and understand technical manuals, drawings and wiring diagrams Ability to use computer systems such as office and app-based software Work alongside the managers and operators to create a teamwork environment to promote best practices for Quality Be a competent practical worker and ensure safe, efficient use of all hand tools Qualifications Bachelor's degree or HND in Electrical/Electronic engineering, business, or related field with 3 plus years experience in a quality role Or Time served electrician with 3 plus years working in an Electrical/Electronic Manufacturing environment. Competencies Understand manufacturing quality management environment. Hands-on experience with the manufacturing process of Electronics and/or Electrical Assemblies. Strong communication skills including written, verbal, and presentation generation. Strong working knowledge of mechanical drawing interpretation and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances (GD&T). Strong working knowledge of Failure Analysis, Root Cause Analysis and Corrective/ Preventative Actions. Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and or ISO/TS 16949/ IATF 16949 requirements, APQP, Quality Systems requirements or comparable industry standards. Proven, practical problem solver. Supporting Production processes, developing Quality Plans, and RCCA facilitation. Experience with product line validation, test plans, test equipment and product qualification. Specific experience with electrical assemblies like Converters, Inverters, Controllers, PCBA's, Wire Harnesses.
