What skills and experience we're looking for
We are looking to appoint an excellent teacher of girls’ PE who can contribute fully and collaboratively within the PE faculty in our continued drive for excellence. This includes the ability to teach Sports Science/PE at GCSE or equivalent and willingness to support the school’s wide ranging extracurricular offer. The post also carries responsibility for primary liaison as the School Sports Co-ordinator for our feeder primaries.
In a small school, teachers also need to be willing to teach outside of their subject areas with support as necessary.
You will need to be able to support and promote the Christian values embedded in school life and to support the wider ethos of the school; to encourage students to achieve not only high levels of attainment but also to develop a love of learning, a breadth of interests and skills, resilience and personal development which will continue in later life.
You will be someone who sets high expectations, can translate vision into plans and will strive to achieve positive outcomes.
As a school with a strong pastoral focus of welfare, care, support and safety you will also be a highly effective Form Tutor, an approachable role model and able to actively listen and communicate with students, staff and a wide range of audiences.
This is a key appointment for our school and so we are seeking someone who has high aspirations, enthusiasm and passion for the transformative power of sport to students' lives. Sport is important at Cartmel and contributes significantly to our ethos of asking our students to live their lives to the full.
The successful candidate will be expected to become an integral member of the staff team and will be expected to demonstrate full commitment to the students, school and its community.
