The Medical Receiving Unit acts as the main point of referral, assessment and admission of medical patients. Patients are accepted via referrals from the Emergency Department, Acute GP Service and primary care to facilitate appropriate medical pathways for our patients.
Under the direction of the Nurse-in-Charge, you will co-ordinate and deliver effective quality nursing care by assessing and maintaining the clinical needs and care for a group of patients.
You will work as part of a dynamic multidisciplinary team to manage the care of acute medical patients efficiently.
Following a period of induction, you will take responsibility for the supervision of junior team members.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated staff nurse who will be a positive role model and share our vision of providing high quality patient-centred care. You will be fully supported by a strong management team to support and advocate for your patients.
You must have good post registration demonstrable experience preferably within acute medicine, although not essential, and demonstrable experience in mentoring and developing clinical expertise.
This staff nurse must be forward thinking and positive in their approach to change. There will also be exciting opportunities to work across the Acute Medical Unit (Tavy, Thrushel, SDEC) to broaden your knowledge and experience.
You must be compassionate, kind, caring and committed to becoming an Acute Medical Nurse. Ongoing training opportunities will be provided by our fantastic Clinical Educators to support you to deliver high-quality patient care.
