What will you be doing?
OneSubsea is currently recruiting for a Customs Controller to join our busy team based in Aberdeen. The role will ensure that the organisation is compliant with UK Customs Regulations and Legislation.
* Review import and export paperwork received in shared mailbox and submit Clearance Instructions to Broker in accordance with CDS Data Elements and UK mandatory requirements.
* Demonstrate best practices upon import to ensure the most cost-effective Customs Procedure is used, all requirements are achievable and correctly executed.
* Review international outbounds prior to shipment to confirm that Commercial Invoices & Packing Lists contain accurate and compliant information.
* Verify Customs Declarations generated on behalf of the U.K. organisation ensuring that data declared aligns with Clearance Instructions. Complete and authorise a Customs Entry Checklist and where applicable, request a Post Clearance Amendment.
* Maintain Customs Records in accordance with HMRC requirements / UK legislation, including updating Customs details in SAP ERP System, Customs Registers and the Customs shared area.
* Manage Shared Mailbox and ensure all requests are actioned within 24 hours, as per teams KPO.
* Work in synergy with Logistics team to ensure quick turnaround of Clearance Instructions.
* Manage Duty Deferment Accounts and reconcile HMRC statements on weekly basis from CDS Financial Dashboard. Use Import Registers for reconciliation to enable Finance & Tax to allocate funds and reclaim import VAT where applicable.
* Perform a monthly reconciliation of our HMRC MSS reports ensuring that Customs data aligns with our internal records and funds taken from the Deferment Accounts.
* Support internal stakeholders with Customs & Trade queries ensuring the business adheres to current UK Customs Regulations & Legislation.
* Monitor industry updates and HMRC developments to ensure that UK organisation remains compliant.
* Ensure HMRC correspondence is handled appropriately and is distributed to internal stakeholders.
We think you should have:
* Minimum of 3 years’ experience, preferably in International Trade and a manufacturing environment
* Educated by the U.K. Customs Academy to Level 3 or above as an “Associate Customs Practitioner”.
* Alternatively, has view to work towards this qualification or hold equivalent from the Chartered IOE&IT.
* Familiar with U.K. Trade Tariff, understands Incoterms 2020 rules and Customs & Trade requirements.
* Proficient in SAP ERP and MS Office including Outlook, Teams, Excel, SharePoint and PowerPoint.
* Has a strong attention to detail, is able to work well on own initiative, as well as being a team player.
* Ability to prioritise workload and meet tight deadlines.
