Division Overview

Role Summary
Reporting to the Operational Managing Directors, the Health & Safety Advisor will provide professional services in the UK and Holland. The role covers in this scope a total of 25 locations and so requires travel.
Scope
1. The responsibility for Health and Safety for all CPS and Gibb entities is devolved and the Managing Director of each entity is appointed as the senior executive director responsible for Health and Safety for their company.
2. The Health & Safety Advisor must be a qualified Health and Safety professional who shall provide advisory services to the MD(s) but such individual shall not assume responsibility or accountability for Health and Safety management of the company.
3. The Health & Safety Advisor is an operational one, with a significant percentage of the working week spent in and alongside those operations to provide practical advice, insight, and guidance to the responsible duty holders, such as directors and managers.
What you’ll be doing
• Strategy - To continually strive for excellence in delivery of Health & Safety management, this includes on occasion working with any eternal consultants appointed for independent audit and oversight, coaching, training or other external assistance.
• Policy - To review and approve all Compliance Policy Arrangements for the companies.
• Culture - To promote a positive and continuing Health and Safety culture in accordance with the Group Health & Safety Strategy, Policy and Standards, working with the Company ISO Standards and Accreditation Officer and delivery of training as required in support.
• Active Operational Monitoring - To monitor compliance within operations with the requirements of the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and all applicable supporting statutory provisions as set out the company’s legislation register and advise the Managing Directors of any gaps in such compliance.
• Audit - To monitor via internal audit the conduct of all activities in a healthy, safe and protected working environment which meets all statutory obligations via Audit and Continuing Improvement Reviews.
• Risk Management - To advise Risk Assessment and Control actions to minimize risk and demonstrate a commitment to continual improvement and to provide a Quality Assurance Role on those Risk Management Standards
• Consultation with Workforce - To facilitate regular discussions and review Health and Safety performance and standards at monthly intervals to ensure that all requirements are being met via a Health & Safety Committee and to support the MD who will chair the meetings.
• Investigations - To oversee Investigations and assist with sign off on any serious incident reports / RIDDORS / HSE Improvement Notices, ensuring remedial actions are closed out within deadlines.
• Reporting of Health & Safety - To provide a monthly Health and Safety declaration to the Group Management Board that there have been no known breaches in legislation or RIDDORS during the month. If a known breach or RIDDOR has occurred during the month, details must then be provided on the monthly declaration.
• To support external auditing activity by contributing to preparation of in (January) of each year an MD’s annual Health and Safety Report which will include the following:
a. Legislation Register, Compliance Policy Arrangements and supporting narrative.
b. The Company’s Health and Safety Policy Statement.
c. Summary of the company’s top operational Health and Safety Risk Matrix
d. Summary of all known statutory breaches / RIDDORS / serious incident reports from the previous year with an explanation of improvements made.
e. Any outstanding items from the previous year’s external audit with explanation of any non-compliance with required improvements.
• Additional / ad hoc duties as required to meet the needs of the business.

Other requirements
Essential
• NEBOSH National General Certificate (NEBCert)
• Minimum of 3 years post qualification experience
• Enrolled on the IOSH IPD/CPD Scheme
Desirable
• NEBOSH DIPLOMA or in a study programme towards this qualification or equivalent.
• Active on the IOSH CPD Scheme
• 5 years or more relevant post NEBCert qualification
