Sue Ross Recruitment are working with a leading specialist AV technology company in the recruitment of a Pre-Sale Engineer.
Pre-sales engineers are responsible for supporting their Commercial leads with assessing client needs, developing a solution, and then creating the proposal or other documentation required when presenting back to the client.
This is a technical role, reporting to the Commercial AV Manager, providing technical consultancy and specialized support to augment the sales effort, supporting with demonstrations and technical presentations for customers, partners and prospects showcasing A/V product solutions, explaining features/benefits to customers and designing solutions to meet specific customer needs.
The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in AV technologies and a proven track record in pre-sales, with a passion for designing and delivering innovative AV solutions.
Although this role will involve occasional travel within the UK and a portion of working from home, it is preferred that the Pre-Sales engineer is located within a commutable distance from our Sheffield HQ, as we expect the liaison between the various teams would require at least two days per week in the office.
Responsibilities
1. Work closely with the Commercial and Design teams to specify innovative, and cost-effective AV solutions.
2. Perform site surveys and accurately record your findings.
3. Prepare detailed Bills of Materials (BOM) for AV projects, ensuring that all components are accurately specified, along with associated Scope of Work (SoW) documents.
4. Maintain and update quotations for long lead project opportunities.
5. Review both internal and 3rd party construction or technical drawings and co-ordinate requirements.
6. Review and assist with the responses to external tenders and RFQ documents.
7. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to provide input on product offerings, technical strategy, and customer needs.
8. Stay up to date on the latest AV technologies, industry trends, and competitive products.
9. Provide pre-sales technical support, including system configuration, equipment recommendations, and system demonstrations.
10. Lead technical handover meetings to the engineering team after project award.
11. Work with the engineering team to ensure that all solutions are feasible, scalable, and aligned with the client’s expectations.
12. Act as a technical advisor throughout the pre-sales cycle, ensuring the highest level of customer satisfaction.
Required Experience
1. Demonstrable experience in AV sales, design, or engineering.
2. Proven experience with pricing strategies, BOM creation, and partner management.
3. Commercially aware, and confident in presenting at sales opportunities.
4. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
5. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
6. Technical proficiency in AV system design and installation.
7. Strong collaborative skills with the ability to work across multiple departments.
8. Excellent organisational skills and an attention to detail.
9. Confident with the use of design software such as AutoCAD and Visio.
10. AVIXA CTS is preferred, with a positive approach to further development.
11. Full UK driving license.
This role will involve regular travel within the UK and a portion of working from home, but there is a requirement for regular attendance in our Sheffield HQ. You need not be local to Sheffield, but a reasonable commutable distance is fine.
