Advanced Specialist Cardiac Physiologist

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic cardiac physiologist to join our expanding team at Northern Care Alliance (Bury, Rochdale and Oldham) providing cardiac physiology expertise within the area of echocardiography.
The cardiorespiratory department delivers a full range of both invasive and non-invasive diagnostic investigations across four sites. Within the echocardiography department, these include TTE, TOE and stress echo. We have an expanding range of physiologist-led services including valve clinics and stress echo led by our BSE stress accredited physiologists.
The successful candidate will be enthusiastic and committed to developing and advancing their clinical skills as well as contributing towards the expansion and development of the cardiac physiology service. We will fully support CPD, through courses, weekly echo meetings and provide opportunities for further training.
Suitable applicants should possess a BSc in Clinical Physiology (or equivalent) and BSE accreditation in Transthoracic Echo as well as meeting the requirements detailed in the person specification and job description.
Exceptional band 6 candidates working towards BSE accreditation will be considered. If a band 6 applicant is successful, training would be offered in this area. Such a candidate would transition to band 7 upon completion of specific competencies as discussed with their line manager.
Main duties of the job
Provide cardiac physiology expertise within the area of echocardiography ensuring optimal standards of care are provided to patients.
Undertake autonomous interpretation of results and provision of accurate clinical echocardiography reports.
Provide specialist advice, training, mentoring and supervision in the field of echocardiography to trainee cardiac physiologists, nursing and medical staff and any other professionals that require supportive training as part of their extended roles.
Work collaboratively on a day-to-day basis with colleagues to ensure that the daily workload needs are met and assist in monitoring and maintaining quality of service and participate in clinical audit.
To undertake any other duties which are deemed appropriate to the band when requested by the Lead Cardiac Physiologist.

Person Specification
Qualification
* BSc Hons Clinical Physiology or equivalent
* British Society of Echocardiography Accreditation
* Assessors award or equivalent teaching
Experience
* Minimum of 2 years post graduate experience
* Previous specialised cardiac physiologist experience in a broad range of basic and advanced cardiac investigations
Skills
* Ability to work autonomously within echocardiography specialism
* Able to work under pressure
* Ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team
* Able to organize own workload
* Ability to acquire & communicate highly complex knowledge in challenging environments
