Our client, a prominent player in the power utilities and energy sector, is currently seeking an Authorised Person to join their team. The role is integral within the power distribution and renewables sectors, involving high voltage responsibilities and coordination of temporary works, ensuring the reliable transmission and distribution of energy across the UK.
Key Responsibilities:
Ownership of safety: The AP is responsible for ensuring all activities under their remit are conducted safely and in full compliance with National Grid and industry safety rules.
Planning and coordination: Develops and approves method statements, risk assessments, and lifting plans, especially for complex or safety-critical tasks.
Control of work: Authorises and supervises Permit to Work (PTW) systems, ensuring no unauthorised work takes place near live infrastructure (like overhead lines, substations, or buried cables).
Technical oversight: Ensures all operations align with National Grid technical standards and Electricity Safety, Quality and Continuity Regulations (ESQCR).
Liaison: Acts as a key point of contact between National Grid, contractors, and other stakeholders during planning and execution phases.
Compliance and assurance: Ensures audits, inspections, and post-job reviews are completed, reporting any incidents or non-compliances.
Job Requirements:
CPCS / NPORS Appointed Person Ticket
Experience in high voltage operations, particularly with 132Kv to 400kv systems
Certification as an Appointed Person in high voltage National Grid systems
Previous experience as a Temporary Works Coordinator
Strong knowledge of power utilities, power distribution, and renewables sectors
Excellent communication and leadership skills
Willingness to travel and work across various sites in the UK
Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card and SMSTS
