Pastoral Support Officer
Working Hours: Ideally 35 hours a week term time. 8.15am to 3.45pm with 30 minutes unpaid lunch.
Exact hours could be negotiable for the right candidate.
Contract Type: Fixed term contract until 31 August 2025 in the first instance.
Salary: NJC Scale M £29,201 – £33,078 (Full time Equivalent)
Actual Salary based on 35 hours per week term time only plus training days:
£23,653 - £26,794
Including Pay award from April 2024

We are seeking to appoint two enthusiastic and passionate colleagues to support students so they can overcome challenges, manage feelings, self-regulate and access learning. The successful candidate will:
• Have a passion and enthusiasm for helping and supporting young people
• Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Encourage, motivate and inspire students
• Be a flexible, resilient and supportive team player
Experience working with young people is essential, but experience in a directly comparable role isn’t necessarily required. We would welcome applications from people with experience of different kinds. This post would suit someone looking for a varied and high energy role working with young people. The role will involve:
• Providing one to one and group support for students experiencing barriers to learning such as anxiety or personal trauma
• Intervening with students who are dysregulated to de-escalate situations and promote good behaviour
• Supervising students who are working outside of lessons, ensuring students are on task and learning well
• Being on call for periods of time to intervene with young people showing disruptive behaviour in lessons
• Liaising with colleagues to provide students with appropriate individual support
