An exciting opportunity has arisen within our business for a Support Manager reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer. The role will be based at our head office in Birmingham but will require some site visits so driving licence is essential.

We are looking for a motivated, detail-oriented, and empathetic Manager to oversee operations, ensuring effective support and compliance across all services.
Position Summary
The Support Worker Manager will take the lead in managing daily operations for our Domestic Abuse and Mother & Baby housing units. Responsibilities include overseeing tenant support, maintaining compliance, managing properties, and leading and managing an existing team of support workers. The ideal candidate will bring strong organizational skills, a deep understanding of housing and support services, and experience with trauma-informed care.
Key Responsibilities
Operational and Housing Management
Referral Management
* Oversee the referral process, ensuring that prospective residents meet eligibility criteria and are welcomed into a safe and supportive environment.
* Coordinate with external agencies for referral outsourcing, establishing robust referral pipelines to meet occupancy targets
Team Leadership and Support
* Managing the support team, acting as the primary point of contact, providing guidance on any queries, concerns, evictions, warnings, or other matters that require intervention.
* Conduct team meetings, offer professional development, and support staff in delivering high-quality, trauma-informed care.
Service Charge and Financial Oversight
* Manage service charges, including budget planning, tracking expenses, and ensuring transparent reporting in line with organizational and regulatory standards.
Property and Maintenance Management
* Oversee tenant and property management, ensuring all residences are well-maintained, comfortable, and safe for inhabitants.
* Coordinate maintenance efforts for repairs, such as leaks, working directly with maintenance personnel ensuring quick action on critical issues.
* Manage necessary supply purchases, including bedding and other essentials, to keep units stocked and resident-ready.
Compliance and Support Standards
* Work closely with the Compliance Officer to meet and uphold legal and organizational standards, such as Council regulations, housing benefit (HB) claims, and support documentation.
* Conduct regular audits on support notes and documentation to ensure accuracy, consistency, and regulatory compliance.
Relief Work and Resident Support
* Step into a support worker role when required, demonstrating a hands-on approach to resident care.
* Provide skill-based support to the team, offering relief and guidance on housing benefit processes, claim support, and tenant advocacy
Training and Professional Development
* Identify Training Needs
* Regularly assess training needs within the team, particularly in areas related to trauma-informed care, domestic abuse support, and mother & baby care.
* Identify gaps in skills, knowledge, and compliance, and develop a structured plan to address these through tailored training programs.
Sourcing and Organizing Training Programs
* Research and establish partnerships with accredited training providers to deliver essential training, staying updated on best practices and sector developments.
* Coordinate both in-house and external training sessions, ensuring that all team members meet training requirements and maintain certifications relevant to their roles.
Delivering and Evaluating Training
* Conduct in-house training sessions on key topics such as trauma-informed care, safety protocols, and effective communication.
* Develop interactive training materials and deliver workshops that empower staff with practical skills and theoretical knowledge.
* Monitor the effectiveness of training programs through feedback and performance assessments, making adjustments to improve future training sessions.
Community and Relationship Building
* Build and maintain strong relationships with referral sources, local authorities, property contacts, and Child in Care (CIC) services, fostering networks that support and enhance resident care.
Administrative and Audit Support
* Support Notes and Documentation
* Perform regular audits on support notes and other resident-related documents, ensuring high standards of care and compliance with organizational policies.
Transportation
* Be able to drive to various properties, partner agencies, and other locations as needed to support resident needs and operational responsibilities.
Qualifications and Skills
* Proven experience in housing management, ideally within services focused on domestic abuse survivors and mother & baby programs.
* Strong leadership abilities with experience in team management, staff training, and conflict resolution.
* In-depth understanding of housing regulations, including knowledge of BCC and other councils, housing benefits, and claims processes.
* Demonstrated ability to manage property maintenance, service charges, and budgeting within a housing environment.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience building community partnerships.
* Proficient IT and web-based skills
* Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to properties and partner locations.
