Deputy Sister/ Charge Nurse SEAU - Band 6
The Surgical Emergency Assessment Unit (SEAU) is looking for someone to join their team of Deputy Sisters in this exciting, demanding but extremely rewarding environment.

We have exciting nursing opportunities on SEAU (Surgical Emergency Assessment Unit) at Lincoln County Hospital, for you to join one of the most dynamic clinical teams within United Lincolnshire Hospital Trust.
SEAU is a 20 bed inpatient surgical emergency assessment unit with a SAU (Surgical Assessment Unit) delivering same-day emergency care working within our ward. We take direct referrals from A&E, SAU, GP, Clinics, Out of Hours, Hospital Transfers, Specialty Consultants, and Clinical Nurse Specialists, treating a range of acute surgical conditions. We are a quick-paced, ever-changing environment that requires highly motivated professionals to work with enthusiasm and compassion, managing their time effectively to prioritize patient care whilst meeting the demands and needs of the unit.
Applicants will be expected to work all shift patterns.
Main Duties of the Job
Duties for this post will include clinical duties such as assessing, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care and supporting colleagues in providing care of the highest standard.
Working with and leading the multi-disciplinary team, you will need to have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. You will need to be a role model, both clinically and professionally, with the ability to motivate and manage, adapting to rapidly changing situations.
You will frequently be the designated shift coordinator and will be expected to deputize for the Department Manager. You will be supported to be an efficient Team Leader who can coordinate effectively whilst maintaining the flow through the department and keeping the highest standards of care and good team morale.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse Level 1
* Teaching and Assessing qualification or equivalent
* Evidence of continuing professional development
* Degree
* Recruitment and Selection Training
* Managing Attendance Training
* ALERT
* Extended competencies, e.g., cannulation, venepuncture, and ECG recording
* Advanced clinical nursing skills
* Ability to teach to all grades of staff
* Demonstrate knowledge of budget management
* Evidence of commitment to own professional development
* Evidence of reflective practice
Experience
* Experience of having worked in an acute environment
* Experience of acting as 'shift coordinator' / Bleep Holder on a regular basis in an acute environment
* Recent experience of implementing change and nurse-led initiatives
* Experience of mentoring students and acting as preceptor to newly qualified nurses
* Participated in the induction of new staff
* Demonstrated support for junior staff in education and training
* Demonstrated commitment to achieving targets of reforming emergency care
* Report and respond to clinical and non-clinical incidents appropriately
* Experience of involvement in clinical audit
* Experience of working in acute emergency assessment areas
* Experience in performing staff appraisals
* Participated in recruitment of new staff
* Participated in the investigation and resolution of complaints
