GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Scunthorpe. This is an exciting opportunity to provide tailored support to students, helping them engage with their education while promoting emotional and social development in a structured environment. As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, your role will involve working closely with students with SEMH difficulties, helping them overcome barriers to learning and personal growth. You will support them both inside and outside the classroom, ensuring their needs are met and promoting a positive attitude towards learning. Responsibilities of an SEMH TA: Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with SEMH needs. Assist in the development and implementation of individual learning plans and strategies to manage SEMH-related behaviours. Support students in developing emotional regulation, social skills, and positive behaviours. Work with teachers to adjust lessons and teaching strategies to suit the needs of students with SEMH difficulties. Monitor student progress and contribute to regular reviews of their development. Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment by promoting empathy, respect, and understanding. Communicate regularly with parents, carers, and other professionals to ensure a holistic approach to support. SEMH Teaching Assistant Qualifications: Experience working with students with SEMH needs, or in a similar educational support role. Understanding of SEMH-related behaviours and strategies to support students effectively. A relevant qualification such as CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ Level 2 or 3, or equivalent in Education, Childcare, or SEN is desirable. Experience in behaviour management and implementing support strategies. Strong communication skills, patience, and a caring, empathetic approach.
