The Paul Mellon Centre for Studies in British Art (PMC) is looking for a Networks & Learning Administrator to help support the delivery of PMC’s Networks & Learning programmes. Who We Are As a research centre and educational charity, PMC aims to generate original, inclusive and creative thinking and scholarship on British art, understood in its most diverse and expansive contexts. We host and support a thriving programme of research events. We publish innovative books and a wide range of digital outputs, including our prize-winning journal British Art Studies. We pursue individual and collaborative research projects. With our grants and fellowships programme, we sustain the most exciting and original work in British art and visual culture. We make our specialist archives and library accessible to a growing public, at Bedford Square and beyond. We deliver teaching and learning programmes and run networks that connect researchers and professionals. About the Role PMC is looking for a Networks & Learning Administrator to support the delivery and development of PMC’s Networks & Learning programmes. PMC’s Networks & Learning programmes connect and support individuals engaged with British art at different stages of their lives. PMC’s Networks are aimed at creating opportunities for those involved in the field of British art to connect with one another, whether as researchers, curators or arts professionals, thus helping to develop their knowledge and skills, and share their learning. Supported Networks currently include the Doctoral Researchers Network (DRN), Early Career Researchers Network (ECRN) and the British Art Network (BAN), a subject-specialist network supported by PMC in partnership with Tate. Additionally, the Networks & Learning team run programmes and events to support the vocational development of emerging researchers and professionals, currently including the British Art in Motion film competition and the Art Trade Forum. The Learning programme is designed to help every young person (14yrs – 24yrs) who wants to engage with, and learn more about, British art, and endeavours to spark that interest amongst young people who do not yet know how British art may speak to their individual lives and experiences. The programme presently includes Yale in London, Write on Art, Plan Prepare Provide and student events. During 2025, our Networks programme will be developed and refined, with a new consolidated network for emerging researchers. Salary will be in the range of £30,000–£34,000 per annum depending on experience. This post is a fixed-term contract for a minimum period of twelve months, full-time and the hours of work are thirty-five per week. Applicants will be expected to work on site at the Paul Mellon Centre, Bedford Square, London WC1 (or remotely as circumstances demand). Key responsibilities include: Membership and Participation The successful applicant will: help maintain the membership databases and mailing lists for all the Networks and associated programmes process Networks membership applications and maintain the online member directory on the BAN website support the Networks & Learning teams in processing applications for their programmes Events and Activities The successful applicant will: work closely with the Networks & Learning teams in the planning and delivery of events and activities, including residential programmes monitor and update the calendar of events and activities posted on the BAN website work at evening events at PMC or events hosted at an alternative location (agreed in advance and when required) Websites and Communications The successful applicant will: help prepare and deliver information on Networks’ activities for the PMC website work with the Networks Manager and the external web developer to ensure the maintenance and smooth running of the separate BAN website, including tracking and reporting website analytics edit and update the BAN website Administration and Finance The successful applicant will: support the Networks & Learning Managers in scheduling meetings, including with external stakeholders and partners, and help prepare papers and other materials support the Networks & Learning Managers in creating budget forecasts, managing commitment logs and reporting spending process invoices/reimbursements due to be paid from funds held by PMC support the Networks & Learning Managers in undertaking evaluation, including disseminating surveys, examining the feedback collected and producing reports Further information including full job description can be found on the Paul Mellon Centre website.
