We are looking for a Design Manager to join a contractor based near Southampton to join their growing pre-construction team.
The company works across the Surrey, Hampshire, Berkshire, and Dorset areas and has a highly successful track record on a range of schemes in the education, commercial, retail, and industrial marketplaces. Recently, they have been awarded opportunities to work on local government frameworks and larger strategic 5-year agreements, as well as repeat business with established clients.
Typical projects range from £5 to £25 million in value, involving both 2-stage negotiated and competitive single-stage bids.
The role involves working on bids and tenders through to information management on live schemes, providing unique insight from tender to build phase and final client handover.
Pre-construction duties will include collaborating with bid teams, estimating teams, building services, and design managers to create and submit the best bids possible. This is based on forensic analysis of the design process of each package, working with internal teams and specialist consultants to overcome issues and develop innovative design ideas. You will have the opportunity to learn from experienced individuals who can help train and develop your skills.
Upon contract award, you will be responsible for drawings and information control with site teams, subcontractors, and clients. You will be expected to work on-site to ensure compliance with BIM and CDM requirements and collaborate with commercial teams on RFIs, variations, and take responsibility for the design elements of the project as it progresses through the programme.
They are currently working on several new bids, 2nd stage opportunities, and 3 live projects in the Dorset/Hampshire area, all of which you can get involved with.
This is a fantastic opportunity to engage in every aspect of a construction business and the life cycle of a project. The contractor offers an excellent training programme, making this role suitable for someone looking to move up from a trainee or assistant level, or an experienced coordinator aiming for growth and promotion in the medium term.
