We have a vacancy for a Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner based on Wards Chesterman 3 and 4 in Cardiothoracic Services at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals. This is an exciting opportunity for anyone who has a passion for Cardiothoracic Nursing and wishes to expand their clinical skills and follow a clinical career pathway.
The training will be at AfC Band 6. Progression to Band 7 is granted upon completion of the relevant competency sign off and required academic/professional training to enable autonomous practice.
Main duties of the job
To act as an autonomous (trainee) Advanced Clinical Practitioner working on their own initiative and in collaboration with nursing, medical and allied health professionals within the Cardiothoracic Directorate.
To deliver safe, high quality care to patients presenting with a variety of undifferentiated conditions as well as established cardiothoracic conditions. This will include using advanced clinical skills to undertake a comprehensive assessment, interpretation of investigations, provision of treatment and critical decision making about ongoing and definitive care.
To provide specialist advice and safe and effective clinical care working collaboratively within the multi-disciplinary team to meet the needs of cardiothoracic patients and supporting the delivery of evidence based practice.

This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term contract basis for a period of 3 years due to this being a training programme. The fixed term contract status of the post holder will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust's legal obligations regarding fixed term contracts.

Please also note this vacancy is a training post so all applicants will start at Band 6 and upon completion of necessary skills and/or training will progress to Band 7.
A learner/applicant must be a UK, EEA, or EU resident for at least the past three years to undertake an apprenticeship training programme.

Person Specification
Education and Qualifications
* Registered Nurse with Valid NMC registration or Health Care Professional and registered with HCPC with relevant clinical experience
* The candidate must be eligible to apply for and willing to complete a full MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice. Eligibility criteria includes an Honours degree at 2.2 or above in a related health care subject. Alternatively, evidence of completion of pre-entry assessment at HEI or successful level 7 study will also be considered.
* Where possible study is funded via the apprenticeship route. If undertaking Apprentice programme, the candidate must be able to demonstrate GCSE English and Maths at C or above or functional skills assessment level 2. If unable to evidence the trainee must complete the functional skills assessment by the end of the Master's Programme (apprenticeship requirement).
* Evidence of relevant continuous professional development
* Advanced life support qualification (ALS/ILS) or willingness to undertake and successfully complete
* Advanced Physical Assessment module, Non-Medical Prescribing (if part of proposed role)
* Recognised Teaching & Assessment Qualification or equivalent experience
* Recognised Leadership Award/qualification or equivalent experience
