About the Role
We are looking for a Stores Operative/Storekeeper with Forklift truck experience to manage and maintain the materials and stock needed to keep our fleet of rail track repair machines running efficiently.
This is a hands-on role requiring excellent organisational skills, stock management expertise, and a strong commitment to safety and quality.
As a key member of our Supply Chain Team, you'll ensure materials are readily available, efficiently stored, and accurately recorded to support maintenance operations.
This role involves warehouse operations, logistics, and close collaboration with engineering teams to meet material needs effectively.

Duties:
Manage the ordering, booking, and issuing of stock and calibration tooling.
Organise and process material requisitions, ensuring timely delivery.
Inspect deliveries, maintain stock rotation, and perform regular stock checks.
Handle repairable materials and liaise with engineers to manage repairs and warranties.
Analyse warehouse stock for cost improvements and efficiency gains.
Assist in transport planning and ensure material readiness for rail machine shipments.
Maintain high standards of stores housekeeping and document control.
Work closely with engineering to forecast material needs and manage obsolescence.
Operate forklifts and pallet trucks to load/unload goods.
Deputise for the Stores Supervisor when required.
Skills:
Previous experience in stores/warehouse operations and stock control.
Knowledge of material management systems, including Microsoft Excel & Word
Skills & Attributes:
Forklift and pallet truck experience (essential).
Proficiency in material management systems
Strong communication skills (written, verbal, and IT).
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Organised, methodical, and able to prioritise workloads.
Flexible, proactive, and self-motivated.
Qualifications:
Proven understanding of stores/warehouse procedures.
