We are looking for a Structural Engineer to join us and be responsible for performing engineering evaluations of designs to aid the build process. You will collaborate closely with the design team to create equipment and/or support production operations, ensuring the development of safety-critical equipment.
Day to day you will be responsible for:
1. Analysis and Design of complex steel structures utilising Eurocodes, British Standards and BAE standards, to support submarine build.
2. Utilising your knowledge of specific regulations & requirements beyond that used within BAE Systems i.e., LOLER, codes of compliance, weld specifications, geometric tolerance.
3. Interpreting Competent in computer-based analytical techniques including finite element analysis, CAD modelling and engineering schematics (Abaqus, S-Frame).
4. Supporting the manufacturing, assembly, lifting, handling, and installation processes of Submarine Structures, Modules and Components.
5. Supporting towards production of concept drawings, layouts, and other technical outputs consistent with contractual requirements to meet target dates and budget demands.
6. Responsible for approvals, checking analysis and outputs.
Experience we are looking for:
1. Engineering Degree BEng/MEng or equivalent experience in Civil/Mechanical/Structural Engineering and Chartered Engineer CEng Status or Incorporated Engineer IEng Status nearing CEng Status.
2. Expertise in structural steel analysis and design.
3. Fully conversant in the use of Eurocodes and British Standards.
4. Competent in reviewing and checking of design outputs.
5. Good understanding of mechanical engineering, structural steelwork, knowledge of lifting handling and LOLER.
6. Working knowledge of ABAQUS (Software), S-Frame Foran, MathCAD and Excel.
7. Previous knowledge in a production environment - experience in a marine production environment advantageous.
