The post holder is responsible for cleaning and maintaining a safe working environment using measures to reduce cross infection as per Trust policy. - Communicate effectively with patients, carers, relatives and all members of the multidisciplinary team, including giving of advice and information following procedures or relating to specialist conditions, including emotionally distressing situations. - To organise and provide chair-side nursing in orthodontic and oral surgery clinics. - To act as a scrub nurse and assist with procedures under local anaesthetic, lasting up to an hour. - To organise, prepare and assist with specialist clinics eg. Orthognatic, oncology, alveolar, cleft lip and palate. - Provide care, under supervision for patients with appearance altering conditions such as Cleft palate, facial cancers and facial trauma. - Prepare medical and orthodontic notes for clinics including obtaining investigation results from computerised systems eg MRI and CAT scans. - Obtaining prostheses from the maxilla-facial laboratory. - Responsible for recording and storage of patient study models of patients currently undergoing treatment - Work on either site as the workload demands and on the instruction of the nurse in charge. Take on responsibility for personal development and support the development and supervision of others by developing and maintaining specialist knowledge of Therapy practice - Conduct oneself in a professional manner and be a role model to less experiences/ non registered and new staff at all times - Work proactively to ensure that every patient attendance meets the patients expectations and needs with timely undertaking of procedure and effective communication with relatives, patients and carers.
