Yeovilton is one of the Royal Navy`s two principal air stations, is one of the busiest military airfields in the UK and home to more than aircraft.
Serco have an exciting opportunity for an Aviation Engineering Supervisor (Wildcat) to be based at our site located in Yeovil. This exciting role is responsible for the aircraft maintenance and ground support on Wildcat aircraft and will require an understanding of the AESAS regulatory governance applicable in an operational airworthiness environment.
The ideal candidate will be required to hold appropriate professional qualifications and/or relevant experience to support Aircraft Engineering services at RNAS Yeovilton in the AESAS Contract and supporting operational deliverables and interfaces in a highly regulated environment. In the execution of your duties you will support their Military/Serco Line Manager with regards to managing team members and development of any Air Engineering Technicians and also Serco Fitters/Fitters Mates and Apprentices.
Main Accountabilities:
1. Where required by Customer Regulations and Procedures ensuring employees are authorised to carry out contracted tasks.
2. Ensuring all contracted tasks are carried out in accordance with current Customer Policy and Regulations and other applicable statutory Regulations.
3. Contracted tasks are completed in a timely manner.
4. Serco Line Manager is made aware of all business risks.
5. All verbal and written customer complaints and Quality issues are brought to the attention of their Serco Line Manager.
6. All employees under their control comply with:
7. The Health and Safety at Work (HASAW) Act 4.
8. The Serco Management System.
9. Where applicable Customer Policy and Regulations applicable to their grade and position.
10. Company and Customer Environmental procedures.
11. Company Equal Opportunities Policy.
12. Other tasks within their capability are carried out as directed by their Military/Serco Line Manager.
13. Administration tasks are carried out as required by their Military/Serco Line Manager.
14. Further training courses necessary to their job are attended as required.
15. Ensuring best practice and assurance of regulatory compliance by the utilisation of DASOR, Assure and any other reporting medium to capture and communicate findings and actions from engineering, safety and near miss events.
16. Monitoring hazards and ensuring risks, and issues are identified and quantified
17. They participate in Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives and associated programmes when required.
18. When deemed as qualified by their Military/Serco Line Manager to do so and when requested, Fitters/Fitters Mates and Apprentices are trained/mentored as a supporting task of the job requirement.
19. To remain flexible and carry out any other tasks within their capabilities and experience in support of the Contract as directed by the Contract Manager or their representative.
20. To promote Serco’s professional Company image in all liaisons with internal and external agencies.
What you’ll need to do the role:
21. Attained a Service Certificate of Competency (CoC) or successfully completed a local Serco Supervisory Management and Aircraft Documentation Course and CoC Board.
22. Previous supervisory experience and a thorough and good working knowledge of the following:
23. Wildcat Aircraft Engineering and Aircraft Systems (by Trade).
24. Wildcat Aircraft Servicing and Support Equipment.
25. Project Planning and Lean Operating Procedures.
26. Naval Air Publications and Compound Interactive Electronic Technical Publications (CIETP).
27. Health and Safety, the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regulations, Tool Control and Quality Practices.
28. Engineering and Asset Management Systems.
29. Completed a Maintenance Human Factors Course.
30. Have a thorough understanding of rotary wing military (aviation) procedures.
31. An understanding and proven experience of Airworthiness Engineering Safety and Compliance iaw Regulatory and Legislative requirements (MAA).
32. Excellent leadership and people management experience.
33. An excellent capability to work productively, efficiently & effectively with initiative and drive under tight timescales and pressure whilst maintaining operational outputs.
