The Wheelchair Service at Queen Mary’s Hospital, Roehampton is seeking an experienced administrator who enjoys working as part of a team and can demonstrate a commitment to delivering a high quality service to our clients.
The successful candidate will provide comprehensive support to the Wheelchair and Special Seating Teams and will need to demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills together with initiative, strong interpersonal skills, and empathy for working with people who have disabilities. A good understanding and competence in working on computers is essential.

Main Duties:
1. To operate computer systems for the wheelchair and Special Seating service using web-based software to maintain computer records, process orders and transfer data to the contracted repair company.
2. To answer the office telephone and use initiative to deal with calls appropriately. This may involve speaking to clients who have communication difficulties and to demanding individuals.
3. To assist with general administration of the wheelchair and Special Seating service and take responsibility for specific tasks.
4. To help therapists by making telephone calls and taking messages to assist communication between clients, therapists, and approved repairers.
5. To assist and support wheelchair and Special Seating service staff in all aspects of service provision for clients.
The Wheelchair and Special Seating Service provides a comprehensive service for people with permanent mobility problems and associated postural needs, with due regard to disability, environment, lifestyle, and safety factors.
The service is responsible for assessing children and adults for the provision of both manual and powered wheelchairs, specialist children’s buggies, and associated supportive seating to meet postural needs.
Once equipment provision is established, the wheelchair and Special Seating service will continue to evaluate the client’s needs and review their equipment whenever necessary.
Additional Duties:
1. To work effectively as a member of the wheelchair and Special Seating service team by providing competent intervention to clients within set protocols.
2. To be aware of the boundaries of the role and seek advice from therapists or rehabilitation engineers when required.
