What's involved with this role: Temporary Investigator FMIT Job Ref: Cumbria BL 366268 Pay Rate: £16.71 per hour PAYE Hours per week: 37 Monday - Friday, normal working hours Role Length: This opening assignment is for 6-7 months City: Penrith Management Vetting NB: Police Vacancy - only for candidates with a minimum of 3 years continuous UK address history. As a key member of the Constabulary's FMIT, you will investigate major and complex crimes, including serious and organized crime, non-recent abuse cases, and cold cases involving homicide and rape. You will work under the direction of the Head of Crime or Senior Investigating Officer (SIO) team to support and drive complex investigations. Key duties: Conduct investigations under the direction of the SIO or deputy SIO, ensuring compliance with legal and procedural standards, including evidence collection and preserving a fair trial ethos. Record statements and conduct interviews with victims, witnesses, and suspects, following Achieving Best Evidence (ABE) guidelines and relevant legal procedures. Perform various investigative duties, such as house-to-house enquiries, suspect interviews, and maintaining evidential continuity as the exhibits officer. Review third-party material for compliance with legal requirements, including the Criminal Procedure and Investigations Act (CPIA) and the Attorney General's disclosure guidelines. Prepare case reports, liaise with relevant parties, and support investigations through expertise, while ensuring the welfare of victims, witnesses, and those under investigation.
