Carriera are looking for a dynamic individual who wishes to develop as a Principal Designer under the Building Safety Act across multiple developments including non-high risk and high-risk buildings.
The role requires a clear communicator in both verbal and written forms, someone passionate about technical delivery, enjoying the challenges of multitasking across various project stages, and engaging with industry teams.
The ideal candidate will have good knowledge of the Building Safety Act 2022 and ideally possess a technical background (Architect, Architectural Technologist, Construction Management).
Duties:
* Attend Design Team/Workshop meetings as per scope allowances.
* Prepare and produce BSA progress reports at each RIBA Stage/Gateway submission.
* Coordinate with other duty holders regarding design work compliance.
* Ensure design work is planned, managed, and monitored for compliance with all relevant requirements.
* Liaise with clients regarding their duties under the BSA.
* Facilitate cooperation among all duty holders.
* Coordinate the route to compliance with the consultant team and establish consensus.
* Support the project team in notifying the regulator of duty holder appointments.
* Participate in Design Development.
* Implement a mandatory reporting plan during the design phase, available at the start of construction.
* Support change management throughout the design phase and monitor risks to compliance.
* Ensure the Fire and Emergency File is prepared during design and handed over during construction.
* Monitor design development and identify compliance risks.
* Assess the competency of the design team.
The ideal candidate will:
* Have a minimum of 4 years' experience.
* Be chartered or working towards accreditation.
* Have experience with High Risk Buildings.
* Understand PD duties and responsibilities.
* Have a keen eye for technical challenges across construction sectors.
* Possess knowledge of modern methods of construction.
* Be familiar with Building Regulations, BSA legislation, BS standards, and statutory processes.
* Be passionate about technical delivery, not just design.
* Enjoy process-driven roles.
* Be comfortable managing multiple projects at various stages.
* Demonstrate confidence and presence to grow into the role.
