Learning Support Assistant (LSA) – Support for Student with ASD, ADHD, and Learning Difficulties Position : Full-Time | Start Date : Immediate We are looking for a compassionate Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to work with a friendly young lady who has ASD, ADHD, and learning difficulties. This student is very capable with strong aspirations to work in a nursery or with young children, but she lacks confidence in her abilities. The ideal candidate will offer both emotional and practical support to help her build confidence, manage anxiety, and support her journey toward independence. The student enjoys accessing a range of community activities, although she does have a number of phobias/fears that can sometimes restrict her participation. She may also struggle to manage emotions when feeling anxious or overwhelmed and occasionally uses a ‘baby voice’ as a form of emotional regulation. The role requires patience, understanding, and the ability to support her through these moments with a calm and reassuring presence. Key Responsibilities : Provide 1:1 support to the student, helping to build her confidence and foster independence Support the student in accessing community activities, working with her to overcome fears/phobias and increase participation Help the student manage her emotions when feeling anxious or overwhelmed, guiding her through emotional regulation Encourage and support the student’s aspirations to work with young children Assist with academic and personal development, reinforcing her capabilities and strengths Foster a safe and supportive learning environment where the student feels comfortable to express herself and explore new challenges Essential Skills & Qualities : Experience or understanding of working with students with ASD, ADHD, and learning difficulties A patient, understanding approach to supporting emotional regulation and anxiety Confidence-building skills and the ability to encourage independence in the student Experience or an interest in supporting students with career aspirations (particularly in the childcare sector) Ability to manage phobias/fears and help the student face challenges with gradual support A calm, reassuring, and empathetic presence, especially when the student becomes anxious or overwhelmed This is an excellent opportunity to support a young lady in her personal and professional development, helping her gain the confidence and skills she needs for her future.
