Role: Pastoral Support Worker
Location: Barnstaple
Contract: 22.5 hours a week, 46 weeks per year, term time only
Salary: £12.56 per hour
We are excited to be recruiting for a Pastoral Support Worker on behalf of a specialist education provider in Exeter. This is a fantastic opportunity for a compassionate professional to support young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in achieving their full potential.
About the role:
As a Pastoral Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the emotional, social and behavioural wellbeing of students. This dynamic role involves:
* Providing holistic one-to-one and group support tailored to students with SEN
* Identifying and addressing behavioural and emotional barriers to learning
* Collaborating with staff, parents and external agencies to develop personalised support plans
* Monitoring attendance and implementing strategies to improve student engagement
* Ensuring safeguarding practices are followed and concerns are reported promptly
About you:
Essential experience and skills:
* At least 1 year experience in a relevant role, ideally with SEN or ASD
* Strong communication and relationship-building abilities
* A proactive, empathetic approach and the ability to think creatively
* Knowledge of safeguarding, equality and diversity practices
* A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
Desirable skills and qualifications:
* Training in areas such as ADHD, emotional literacy or mental health first aid
* Experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities, mental health needs or physical disabilities
* Familiarity with alternative employment pathways, such as internships or apprenticeships
