AS OCU continues on a journey of substantial growth, we have an exciting opportunity for a Estimating & Proposal Coordinator to come and join us based in Iver. The role is working within the estimating and quotation team on new and existing contracts. The role is responsible for preparing cost proposals and quotations for electrical distribution network construction project, analysing client provided desktop designs, verifying design feasibility, confirming material requirements and utilising contract schedule of rates to produce an accurate works activity programme and costings. Duties and Responsibilities: - Reviewing project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to understand the scope of work, materials required, project constraints and feasibility. - Preparing bill of quantities based on contract schedule of rates. Utilising Works Management System to load initial quotation project onto the system. - Allocating jobs to Surveyors and Project Managers, dependant on work aspects, so that on site verification checks can be completed. - Review amended bill of quantities following on site design verification checks. Provide detailed assumptions. Ensure quotations are returned within the contractual SLA timescales, utilising WMS to manage response times and upload approved quotes to client’s portal. - Assist in identifying and assessing potential risks and uncertainties associated with construction projects, such as labor shortages, material price fluctuations, and regulatory changes. - Maintain accurate records of estimating activities, including project documentation, cost estimates, bid proposals, and correspondence with suppliers and subcontractors. Skills & Experience: - Strong analytical skills to interpret project specifications and analyse cost data accurately. - Ideally experience working within the Electrical Distribution network industry, but as a minimum, worked within the utilities sector performing similar tasks. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills to liaise effectively with project stakeholders, subcontractors, suppliers, and team members. - Proficiency in mathematics and numerical analysis to perform calculations, quantify materials, and analyse cost data effectively. - Familiarity with estimating software, spreadsheet applications (e.g., Excel), and construction industry software used for quantity take-offs and cost estimation.
