The Receiving Supervisor is responsible for the direct supervision of a Receiving berth, Receiving Operatives and seamless transition of cargo for both company and customer through release and receiving. The Receiving Supervisor role is to ensure all allocated duties are carried out in a safe, efficient and timely manner and be a point of escalation.
Responsibilities
WHAT YOU'LL DO
1. Lead the Receiving berth through daily operations of auto or high/heavy cargo – delegate receiving tasks, organize staff, handle queries and assist in planning the daily operation.
2. Ensure a high level of customer service is provided within the recieving berth and that cargo handling activities adhere to manufacturer handling instructions.
3. Instruct staff members on changes to any procedures or notices and conduct regular briefings.
4. Ensure that all cargo is located and handover processes completed for vessel operations.
5. Provide new employee training and onboarding activities specific to the receiving activities. Monitoring employee performance during the training and report when requested.
6. Maintain accurate and updated records, including manifests, daily reports and incident logs.
7. Ensure effective and timely completion of department related tasks within your authority limits, including but not limited to; IPQ, EHS and active monitoring checks, company fleet unit checks and processing uniform requests.
8. Hold responsibility for the satellite company fleet unit(s) and associated key assigned to the Receiving office.
9. Ensure company policies, processes and Health, Safety and Quality are adhered to by the team.
10. Assist in other areas of the wider business as reasonably required and within skills level.
Qualifications
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
11. Relevant work experience of logistics and product handling.
12. Understanding of cargo handling methods within the port environment.
13. Leadership/Supervisory experience as well as ability to work in a team
14. High level of computer literacy essential, ability to input and process data.
15. Demonstrable experience of maintaining quality and attention to detail whilst working under pressure and to strict timelines.
16. Knowledge in all aspects of rules and regulations associate with carrying out the duties outline in RA/SSOW and SOP’s.
17. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
18. Clean full UK driving license.
