We are seeking a talented, dynamic and flexible professional who will play a key role in the delivery of better regulatory services for Crawley Borough Council.
As a member of the Food Safety team, you will carry out proactive and reactive food hygiene inspections and interventions, investigate food complaints, and give advice on all food-related issues. You will be required to investigate cases of infectious diseases and foodborne disease. You will also be involved in the development and delivery of public health initiatives and training. Experience of investigating health and safety complaints and RIDDORs would be an advantage.
The successful candidate must have recent operational experience of working within food safety and possess the necessary knowledge, skills, and competencies to undertake investigations, interventions, and enforcement in this field.
As an Environmental Health Practitioner, you will be appropriately qualified with a degree or diploma in environmental health and be registered with the Environmental Health Officer’s Registration Board or equivalent. You will have recent operational experience in food safety, and recent Port Health experience would be a distinct advantage.
You will be required to cover Port Health Officer duty functions at Gatwick Airport, covering weekday and weekend duties on a rota (special responsibility allowance applies). Ability to fulfil the criteria required to achieve an airside security pass at Gatwick Airport is essential. A full clean UK driving licence will be a requirement of the role. Satisfactory clearance of a Basic Disclosure and Barring Check (DBS) will be a condition of your employment as part of the security pass for Gatwick Airport.
