JSR Services (Blairgowrie) Ltd is a hugely successful poultry rearing and egg production business in Scotland, with 5 pullet rearing farms located in Blairgowrie, Forfar, and Ayr.
We rear all breeds of hen from day old to point of lay (16 weeks) for the whole of Scotland and Northern England. All our rearing farms have custom-made highest welfare step-rearing facilities to give the pullets the best start, no matter what type of hen house they are going to. Our farms are equipped with pan and chain feeding systems.
Our shed sizes range from 8,000 birds per rear to a maximum of 32,000 per rear, with an annual capacity to produce 800,000, 16-week-old birds for the Scottish Free Range and organic industry. All farms are RSPCA, Freedom Foods, and BEIC registered, fitted with the highest welfare layouts to allow day-old chicks to grow in a stress-free environment. Our integrated family transport system allows us to deliver consignments from as little as 50 birds to larger commercial assignments of up to 32,000 per day.
Full Job Description
Due to retirement, we are seeking a Farm Manager to manage and run all aspects of the day-to-day operations of our rearing unit in Letham, Angus, Scotland. We encourage and fully support educational advancements in this role.
Main Duties Include:
1. Manage the farm to ensure bird welfare standards are never compromised.
2. Monitor ventilation, heating, feed, water, litter, and lighting within agreed standards to maintain high-quality conditions.
3. Control visitors and contractors on-site, ensuring work is conducted to required specifications and quality while following health and safety legislation.
What You Will Need:
Literate and numerate for documentation recording.
* Ability to work with minimal supervision and carry out manual duties.
* Enjoy working as part of a team and managing weekend staff as required.
* Flexible approach to working hours.
* Full UK driving license due to the rural location.
* Ensure compliance with all Assurance Schemes.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Previous experience working with livestock, with an interest in agriculture and proven experience as a poultry person.
* Poultry Passport / Up-to-date First Aid training preferred but not essential, as full training will be provided.
You will be required to work every second weekend.
Salary is dependent on experience.
