We are seeking to employ an inspirational and forward-thinking Biology specialist to join our thriving Science Department. The appointment provides the opportunity to teach well-motivated, hard-working and high achieving pupils at KS 3, 4 and 5. The post would suit either a recently qualified graduate (full ECT induction is available) or a more experienced teacher looking to develop his/her career in a leading independent school.
All pupils study the main three sciences separately through to GCSE. Almost all pupils prepare for the higher tier papers.
In years 1 & 2 (NC years 7 & 8) Churcher’s has developed its own Biology course which follows the requirements for Key Stage 3 but attempts to stretch our pupils further. This course is regularly reviewed and updated and the teacher appointed would be involved in this process.
Qualities and Experience Applicants should have:
* the ability to enthuse and inspire students with Biology from Key Stage 3 to A Level.
* the ability to teach Chemistry to Key Stage 3 is desirable but not essential.
* a practical approach to lessons, encouraging thought, method, analysis, conclusion and evaluation.
* a dynamic and innovative approach to teaching Biology.
* the ability to communicate ideas and information clearly and proficiently.
* excellent personal administration skills.
* the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* decisiveness in classroom control and managing practicals.
