We are a small, family-run care home located in the picturesque town of Kendal, Cumbria.
Role Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Care Home Assistant to join our team. As a Care Home Assistant, you will be responsible for providing day-to-day care and support to our residents, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social well-being. Your role will be essential in maintaining a high standard of care and promoting a positive, comfortable living environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist residents with daily activities, including personal care (bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting).
• Support residents with mobility and transfers, using equipment as necessary.
• Monitor and record residents' physical and mental well-being, reporting any changes to senior staff.
• Encourage social interaction and participation in activities, promoting a stimulating and engaging environment.
• Administer prescribed medication under supervision and in accordance with care home policies.
• Ensure the safety, dignity, and respect of all residents at all times.
• Maintain a clean and safe living environment for residents, including helping with housekeeping duties when needed.
• Build meaningful relationships with residents, offering emotional support and companionship.
• Communicate effectively with residents, families, and the wider care team.
• Adhere to care home policies and procedures, including safeguarding and health and safety guidelines.
Key Skills & Attributes:
• Compassionate, caring, and empathetic approach to providing care.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
• Ability to remain patient and calm in challenging situations.
• Prior experience in care or a similar environment is desirable, but not essential (training will be provided).
• A willingness to learn and develop professionally.
• Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, nights, and weekends.
Qualifications:
• A minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths is desirable.
• NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or willingness to work towards) is a plus.
• Enhanced DBS check will be required.
