Qualification - Qualified to degree level or equivalent, in a discipline related to the local government regulatory environment e.g. Environmental Health or Trading Standards.
Casual Car Documentation - The successful candidate will be a designated Casual Car User which means that car journeys may be necessary on an occasional basis, but are not essential to the role. If you do drive, you must always hold a full valid driving licence and provide your own car for use at work, as well as provide all the appropriate documentation. You will receive an allowance per mile of business use.
BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) clearance - this post is subject to BPSS checks. You will therefore be required to consent to and comply with BPSS checking requirements prior to commencing in this post. This check involves verification of identity; nationality and immigration status; employment history (past 3 years) and basic criminal record check.
This role will involve line management of officers in the Housing Compliance and Enforcement Team. You will be responsible for the delivery of services relating to housing standards in the private sector, and manage the responsive and proactive enforcement of relevant housing and environmental legislation in order to safeguard residents and neighbourhoods. Managers are required manage a programmed inspection regime for private rented properties. You will be required to work with a range of partners to tackle the impact poor landlords have in the private rented sector and on Neighbourhoods.
The Housing Compliance and Enforcement Team are responsible for dealing with reports of housing disrepair and health and safety related matters in the private rented sector, taking enforcement action as required. The team licence and carry out programmed inspections of licensable Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs) as well as Selective licensed properties. The team works closely with Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service and undertakes proactive initiatives to tackle inadequate and dangerous housing across Manchester.
