Financial Accountant Location: Salisbury or Fareham Contract: Temporary (6 month initial) Rate: £600 - £650 Per Day Umbrella Start date: ASAP Hybrid Working Contact: miraj.hussenservicecare.org.uk Job Description Service Care Solutions is recruiting on behalf of a Central Government Body in Salisbury or Fareham for a Financial Accountant. We are seeking a highly skilled professional to play a key role in financial reporting, VAT compliance, and audit coordination within a dynamic and high-profile environment. This role requires a qualified accountant (CIMA, ICAEW, ACCA, or CCAB) with a strong understanding of IFRS, FReM, and statutory accounts. If you have excellent technical expertise, a proactive approach, and the ability to manage competing priorities, we’d love to hear from you Main responsibilities Generating and submitting quarterly VAT returns in line with MOD deadlines and HMRC requirements. Preparing statutory financial statements in compliance with FReM and IFRS. Acting as the main point of contact for external auditors, maintaining reconciliations and supporting interim and final audits. Maintaining the Assurance Framework, providing oversight of financial information, and guiding assurance activities across the function. Assisting finance and operational teams with accounting, policy, and VAT issues, while liaising with MOD Head Office and other relevant bodies. Candidate Requirements Strong understanding of financial statutory accounts and financial reporting requirements (IFRS, FReM). Qualified through CIMA, ICAEW, ACCA, or another CCAB body. Prior experience working within the public sector. Competency in Microsoft Excel and the ability to present complex financial data effectively. Ability to work under pressure, manage conflicting priorities, and meet strict deadlines.
