Position:
Salary: £40,000 to £45,000 – 37 hours per week
An exciting opportunity has arisen in our Financial Reporting Team – for someone with great numerical and interpersonal skills – to help us build a strong finance function. This role supports the Financial Reporting Manager in providing a comprehensive and professional financial service to the Group and will include training and professional development. It will involve all aspects of financial planning, accounting and budgeting, as well as project work and input into developing strategies. You will play an important part in helping the organisation achieve its corporate objectives by ensuring the quality of services delivered and will have a key role in assisting to ensure proper stewardship of the organisation’s finances.
What’s the role?
To be responsible for the day-to-day management and control of the CAPEX accounting function, ensuring that budgetary control and accurate financial information is delivered to Boards, Committees and business stakeholders. It will require regular engagement across the business, covering a range of finance activities, including management and statutory accounts, risk management and budgeting.
In this role you will need to:
* Ensure a high standard of customer service
* Take personal responsibility for delivery of core financial information
* Support and advise budget holders on the budget-setting process and forecasts
* Assist and deliver a range of core finance processes
* Be an integral part of the management accounting and financial reporting function
* Have the ability to continually ensure compliance with current legislation and best practice
* Be an excellent problem solver
Requirements:
What are we looking for?
You will be a stakeholder-focused member of the finance function, with the ability to interact with a wide variety of people. You will be numerically strong and understand sound financial principles. You will be directly responsible for all postings to the asset register including additions, disposals, revaluations, retentions, and depreciation. You will have a relevant background to support a career in finance and be keen to develop professionally through accounting qualifications.
Essential:
* Interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with a wide range of stakeholders
* A part-qualified accountant (ACCA/CIMA/CIPFA/ICAEW or equivalent)
* Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel
* Knowledge of the treatment of capital expenditure and its relationship to a fixed asset register
* Ability to analyse and interpret financial data, taking a methodical and consistent approach to producing budgets, forecasts, budget monitoring and variance analyses, and final accounts, in conjunction with service managers, to a high degree of accuracy, in a timely manner and complying with proper practices
* Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
* Experience in the production of financial reports and financial reconciliations
* You will need to maintain a satisfactory basic-level DBS check
Desirable:
* Knowledge of the housing sector
* Knowledge of relevant accounting software packages
