Mechanical Design Engineer (Electromechanical) Role Function
Although this is an Electromechanical role, there is more of a focus on the Mechanical Design side, with Electrical experience. 75/25 split in favour of Mechanical.
The Mechanical Design Engineer (Electromechanical) will be responsible for the design, development, and implementation of electromechanical systems & components in all applicable new & existing product development projects. Additionally responsible for aiding development of supporting electronic systems; schematics, PCB layouts, and BOMs.
Candidate Experience Required
* The Mechanical Design Engineer (Electromechanical) will have experience of designing complex moving mechanical assemblies & products.
* Creation & checking of engineering drawings, suitable application of GD&T and collaborating with new suppliers to understand achievable tolerances and process-specific detail requirements.
* Creation & checking of electronic schematics & PCB layouts, collaborating with suppliers to ensure use of currently available components.
* Material & component selection for manufacturing. Direct contact with suppliers regarding materials, processes, DFM & DFA.
* Understanding of FAIRs/ISIRs and ability to approve, reject or apply concessions to suppliers based on the results from these. Also, application of this data as a tool to assess failures, etc.
* Working knowledge/experience of using electronic test equipment.
Key Responsibilities (but not limited to)
* The Mechanical Design Engineer (Electromechanical) will be involved in the creation & maintenance of 2D manufacturing & assembly drawings for entire complex product ranges, covering all areas from multiple variant general assemblies through to individual components.
* Creation & maintenance of electronic schematics and PCB layouts.
* Creation, maintenance & handover of BOMs & meta data, working directly with other departments as necessary.
* Version control of released drawings, ECAD/MCAD files, etc.
* Direct involvement with the project requirements process, including involvement in the creation of engineering specifications.
* Compilation of mechanical aspects of technical construction files. Provision of technical information packs inc. project DFMEA, product guides & advice as necessary.
* Supporting the compilation of electronic aspects of technical construction files. Provide support to completing technical information packs inc. DFMEA, product guides & advice as necessary.
