Blossoms on the Common is currently recruiting a number of Early Years Practitioners for our BRAND NEW nursery opening in Rushall.
You must hold a level 2 or 3 in Early Years (not health and social).
The Nursery offers high-quality full-day care for children aged 0 to 5 years, open 7.00am-6.00pm, 51 weeks of the year.
The nursery will be heavily supported by the curiosity approach to learning, with an emphasis on the natural world and what we can learn from the world around us.
The role will be room-based, with specific roles delegated according to skills and abilities (for example, SENCO or Safeguarding lead). The job is for 40 hours a week, across 5 days, with occasional overtime.
You must be:
1. Confident and a self-starter with the ability to successfully lead a team in achieving the best outcome for children.
2. Demonstrate a thorough understanding of Ofsted requirements, having achieved good/outstanding Ofsted results.
3. Possess excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to lead and inspire your team, providing support and guidance where needed.
4. Committed to outstanding customer service, focusing on setting your nursery apart from other local settings by providing exceptional services in all aspects of the business.
5. Committed to continuous improvement in all aspects of the nursery and able to implement change when required.
6. Experienced/knowledgeable around the Curiosity approach.
Responsibilities will include:
1. Achieving and maintaining high standards of care and education, overseeing the planning and implementation of the EYFS curriculum across all age groups.
2. Effectively leading and managing the staff, including recruitment and retention, providing day-to-day guidance, training, and support to all staff.
3. Ensuring child/staff ratios are adhered to at all times and that all daily checklists are completed on time and accurately, such as opening and closing the nursery, outdoor risk assessments, and all internal domestic areas checklists.
4. Keeping abreast of current early childhood thinking/trends specifically related to the relevant curriculum, assisting in compiling policies, and ensuring all policies and procedures are implemented and adhered to at all times.
5. Implementing an effective parent liaison program and being influential in developing strong partnerships with parents, guardians, and carers.
6. Dealing with staff issues as they arise, such as grievances, investigations, disciplinary matters, absence management, and flexible working requests.
7. Holding an additional role of SENCO or Safeguarding lead within the setting.
Essential:
1. CACHE level 3, NVQ level 3, EYFS or equivalent.
2. A minimum of 2-3 years post-qualifying experience in a full-day care setting.
3. Experience as a room leader.
4. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work to deadlines and under pressure.
5. Knowledge and experience of Ofsted standards, child development, and EYFS.
6. Excellent communication and IT skills.
7. Strong people management skills.
8. Pediatric first aid.
Desirable:
1. Safeguarding lead or SENCO qualifications.
2. Familiar with online learning journal systems, specifically Family.
