Special Needs Teaching Assistant Work
Zen Educate is looking for a special needs teaching assistant to work in a special needs school on a full-time basis starting as soon as possible. The role involves supporting students on a 1:1 basis. Hours are 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM, Monday to Friday, and term time only. We seek someone with experience in supporting special needs, either from a previous school role or a care background.
The school, based in Thornbury, caters to a wide range of learning disabilities for students aged 5-16. Some of the special needs they support include severe learning difficulties, autism, and Down syndrome. We are looking for someone who can balance the pastoral needs of the students while ensuring they achieve the best possible educational outcomes. The ideal candidate will have an empathetic approach and be able to advocate for the students they support.
Requirements:
1. Experience with special needs is required.
2. Previous experience supporting children in a school environment or alternative setting is ideal.
3. Good behavior management skills and the ability to maintain appropriate boundaries with students.
4. Strong communication skills with other staff members and parents, and the ability to follow the instructions laid out by the teacher.
5. Consistent and reliable; special needs children are sensitive to change, so we seek someone who honors their commitments.
6. Enhanced DBS on the update service; if you do not have one, you can apply for one as part of your application.
Zen can offer competitive pay rates, free training, and a bespoke platform to help manage your working week. Get in touch if you are looking to work in an environment that allows you to make a broader impact on vulnerable children.
