Maths Specialist Teaching Assistant - Full-Time Role in Stockport
Teaching Personnel is seeking a Maths Specialist Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Stockport. This is a full-time position, starting ASAP and continuing until the end of the academic year, with the opportunity for a permanent role based on performance. The pay for this role is £419.25 - £500 per week.
This role is ideal for a graduate in mathematics or a related subject, or an individual with strong mathematical skills and a passion for education. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers in the maths department to provide targeted support to students, helping to improve their understanding and confidence in mathematics.
Key Responsibilities
* Small-Group and One-to-One Support: Assist students who require additional help with mathematical concepts, ensuring they grasp key topics and improve their problem-solving skills.
* Classroom Support: Work alongside teachers to provide extra assistance during lessons, supporting students of varying abilities.
* Exam and Revision Preparation: Help students prepare for GCSE and other assessments by reinforcing core mathematical principles and providing structured revision sessions.
* Supporting Differentiated Learning: Adapt support methods to suit different learning styles, working with both high-achieving students and those who need additional support.
* Monitoring Progress: Track students' development and provide feedback to teachers on areas for improvement.
* Encouraging Mathematical Confidence: Develop strategies to help students build resilience and a positive mindset towards maths.
Minimum Requirements
* A Strong Background in Mathematics: Ideally, a maths graduate or someone with a degree in a numerate subject (e.g., physics, engineering, economics).
* Experience Supporting Young People (Desirable): This can include tutoring, mentoring, teaching assistant work, or any experience working with students in an educational setting.
* Excellent Communication Skills: The ability to break down complex mathematical concepts and explain them in a way that is accessible to students.
* Adaptability and Patience: A proactive approach to supporting different learning needs in a fast-paced school environment.
* Passion for Education and Mathematics: A genuine interest in helping students develop their maths skills and achieve their potential.
