P+S Personnel are pleased to be working on behalf of our clients, who are currently seeking a Mechanical Fitter to join their team based in Norwich on a full-time, permanent basis.
The Mechanical Fitter / Technician will be responsible for the mechanical assembly of a range of products, excellent fitting / bench fitting skills are required to ensure the equipment is manufactured to the highest industry standards.
Main Responsibilities:
• Working as part of the Fitting team but also required to work and communicate with other departments during production such as Mechanical Fitters, Test Engineers and Engineering.
• Opportunity to travel overseas (on occasions) to support FSE department, which is optional.
• Working in a modern manufacturing facility.
• Able to work to tight time schedules.
• Required to build / manufacture items from component level to sub-assembly level through to assembly of complete systems.
• Receive work instructions from your Team Leader and ensure your time is booked to the correct cost code using the company’s ERP system.
Qualifications:
• Completed a recognised apprenticeship as a Mechanical Fitter, Machine Builder, Assembly Technician or similar.
• Must be educated to a minimum of NVQ / City & Guilds level 3 in a relevant discipline.
• Must have had experience in a similar role.
Person Specification:
• Able to read and fully understand technical engineering drawings for assembly and component parts.
• Must have excellent bench fitting skills using a variety of hand and electric tools.
• Be able to use a selection of manual machine tools such as Lathes, Milling Machines, Surface Grinders and Pedestal Drills, working to tight tolerances.
• Previous experience is a similar role.
• Have the ability to use precision measurement equipment such as Micrometers, Verniers and Slip Gauges.
• Must be a good team player with the ability to work using own initiative when required.
• Must have the aptitude to produce workmanship to the highest industry standards.
• Must work in a safe and orderly manner to ensure all company H&S standards are adhered to.
• Must work at an acceptable pace to meet deadlines, without sacrificing H&S & Quality standards.
• Must be willing to train or be trained by others when required.
• Must be self-motivated and able to work unsupervised when required.
