Flatbed Transport Planner
We are recruiting and have an exciting opportunity for an experienced transport planner to manage the planning and daily operations of our flatbed fleet. We require previous experience in the planning and operations of flatbed vehicles in a previous role and the successful candidate must be keen to work with us to grow this department.
The successful candidate must have a proactive mindset and be able to positively manage and plan a team of drivers operating across the UK to maximise the efficient operations of the fleet. The successful candidate must also be customer focused and service driven.
With our FORS Silver flatbed fleet currently operating in the rail, construction, manufacturing, engineering and event sectors transporting all manner of products from rail ballast, modular buildings to concrete products and power generation equipment, we have an excellent opportunity to grow the fleet and in turn for the successful candidate to progress further in their career here at D E O'Reilly fully supported by an experienced senior team.
In addition to your annual salary, you will be enrolled into a monthly bonus scheme based on company and department performance.
Responsibilities:
* Demonstrating cost awareness in decision making process.
* Commercial awareness and able to provide high service levels to clients.
* Prioritising workload to complete all tasks in a timely and concise manner.
* Demonstrating a sound knowledge of load securing and safe loading of vehicles.
* Transport planning and scheduling.
* Taking phone calls and dealing with general enquiries via email.
* Developing business with clients and maximising opportunities.
* Input of data including entering/updating job files maintaining our transport planning system (Fleet Wizard).
* Developing and harnessing a positive working relationship with the driving team.
* Liaise with drivers and driver management.
Requirements:
* Experience of working in a transport environment operating flatbed vehicles is essential.
* Must possess a good geographical knowledge of the UK.
* Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role and must possess knowledge of planning and routing.
* Good communicator, strong written and verbal communication skills, people-oriented, good telephone manner, problem solver, and an outgoing personality is a must.
* Able to work as part of a team, under own initiative and cope under pressure in a busy department.
* IT literate with knowledge of Microsoft and able to adapt to in-house bespoke systems.
* Able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of load securing and safe loading vehicles.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: £33,000.00 per year
