We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Enfield to assist with the appointment of a Substance Misuse Early Intervention Worker, on a 1-month contract, likely to be extended at client's discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £17.95 - £22.17 per Hour
Summary:
This role supports Enfield's National Drug Strategy objective of reducing youth drug use and its associated harms. The post is based within the Youth Development Service and aims to provide both preventative and targeted support to young people at risk of or engaged in substance misuse. The successful candidate will work across schools, youth centres, outreach services, and more to deliver impactful psychosocial interventions and structured care planning.
Responsibilities:
* Increase awareness of substance misuse by delivering information and guidance to support healthy choices.
* Provide targeted interventions (e.g., CBT, Motivational Interviewing) for young people using or at risk of using substances.
* Conduct substance misuse screenings and facilitate referrals to Insight Enfield Sort It!
* Maintain a small caseload of young people who decline referral to external services, reporting outcomes to the National Drug Treatment Monitoring System (NDTMS).
* Collaborate with Insight Enfield Sort It! to ensure integrated service delivery and access to specialist training.
Qualifications:
* A qualification in Youth Work or equivalent (e.g., NVQ Level 3 or other relevant professional qualification).
* Additional training in substance misuse, psychosocial interventions, or CBT is an advantage.
Experience Required:
* Direct experience in delivering substance misuse support to young people.
* Experience providing education, advice, and guidance on substance misuse prevention.
* Experience conducting screenings and facilitating referrals to treatment services.
* Background working within youth services or community settings.
Essential Criteria:
* Experience as a Substance Misuse Worker or Practitioner.
* Proven ability to deliver harm-reduction and motivational interventions.
* Understanding of youth-focused drug and alcohol treatment protocols.
* Ability to manage a small caseload and report through NDTMS.
