Work location: It is anticipated that a hybrid working pattern can be adopted for this role, with some attendance in the Milton Keynes office required approximately three times a year.
Applicants are invited to apply for the post of Post Doctoral Research Associate (PDRA) funded by the European Commission, Horizon Europe, titled ‘ALPHABETICA: Activating Learning Paths: Holistic Arts-Based Education and Training for Inclusion and Cultural Awareness’.
ALPHABETICA will carry out 12 pilot actions (arts-based intervention activities) across 8 European countries aimed at enhancing the transformative effect of active participation in community-driven artistic co-creation activities.
Key Responsibilities
* Work closely with the Oxford Brookes and the Open University partners to deliver the aims, objectives and outputs of the research project.
* Contribute to the implementation, analysis, reporting and dissemination of the UK pilot action projects.
* Conduct literature searches and reviews.
* Plan and carry out fieldwork, set up and maintain digital data storage systems, perform data analysis and interpretation, and write reports.
* Contribute to data analysis and evaluation using various analytical tools.
* Develop dissemination outputs and activities for the “Our Caring World Through Art (OCWA)” project.
* Liaise with participating organisations (e.g. schools, libraries) and provide guidance as needed.
* Assist in preparing documents such as ethics applications and research protocols.
* Organise and participate in UK project conferences and meetings, devising agendas and minutes.
* Attend conferences/workshops and present papers and project outputs as required.
Skills and Experience
Essential Requirements
* PhD or close to completion in Art Education/Creative Arts/Visual Anthropology.
* Substantial experience of research with children, young people, and families in schools and community settings.
* Experience with arts-based educational activities using co-creation and participatory research methods.
* Experience working with diverse social and cultural backgrounds.
* Experience using and analysing various arts-based activities/methods.
* Experience using ethnography and social science approaches.
* Excellent understanding of ethical and social justice implications of research.
* Experience in planning project activities and outputs.
* Excellent experience in communicating research ideas with non-specialist audiences.
