This role will be based at the Trust Head Office but will work across the Trust in supporting schools. In this role the Fundraising Manager will report directly to the CFO.
Job Purpose
* Develop and lead an ambitious fundraising and stewardship programme that supports the Trust strategic objectives and aspirations.
* Fundraising from trusts, foundations and grant makers.
* Fundraising through ground level fundraisers and events with the corporate sponsors and the local community.
* Develop excellent, long-term relationships and links within our community, supporters and the public and private sectors.
* Collaborate with the Trust Sponsor, Harpur Trust, to co-develop fundraising and volunteering opportunities.
* Nurture team and volunteer contributions to assist you in your work.
Key Skills
* Ability to work autonomously – the Fundraising Manager is able to take ownership and be accountable for the success of the Fundraising programme.
* Effective Business Partnering – work with Headteachers and senior leaders to identify specific needs that can be addressed through a fundraising project.
* Prospecting – researching potential sources of funding.
* Communication - excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to establish positive relationships at all levels.
* Developing the ‘case for support’ and funding applications - ability to compile compelling and accessible applications, reports, papers and management information.
* Team building – develop and nurture a team of volunteers to support delivery of a successful fundraising programme.
* Organise teams for fundraising activities which will involve working alongside the Executive team Headteachers, Trustees, Governors and other stakeholders.
* Commitment to education and learning – the Fundraising manager must demonstrate a keen interest in progressing their skills technically, show a tenacity in understanding areas of development and be positive about new challenges.
Specific Responsibilities
* Develop and maintain an effective Trust fundraising and stewardship strategy that supports the Trust strategic vision and aspirations.
* Identify projects and develop the ‘case(s) for support’.
* Identify funding opportunities.
* Liaison with third-party agencies to support strategy development and applications (as applicable).
* Support for school PTA groups (where applicable).
Systems
* Develop and maintain fundraising and stewardship systems appropriate to delivering the fundraising strategy.
* Manage fundraising data and documents, ensuring they are kept up to date and in accordance with fundraising and GDPR regulations.
Income
* Deliver an annual income target agreed through the development of the fundraising strategy.
* Work with the Trust Finance team to ensure Gift Aid submissions are processed and records held in accordance with HMRC regulations.
Key Relationships
* Build positive relationships with Trust staff.
* Headteachers, SLTs and the Executive team.
* Trustees and Governors.
* Harpur Trust (Sponsor).
* Grant-giving bodies.
* Community groups.
* Volunteer networks.
Reporting
* Internal - regular reporting to the CFO and other key stakeholders on fundraising prospects, pipeline, volunteer hours and successes.
* External – completion of grant returns as per the conditions of funding.
* External – stewardship of supporter relationships.
* Other ad hoc reporting as required.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential
* Minimum three years’ experience of Trust, Corporate and Community Fundraising.
* Understanding of Fundraising regulations.
* Understanding Gift Aid.

* Institute of Fundraising Certificate/Diploma.
* Social media fundraising.
