Vocational Pathways play a critical role in our future curriculum, and we’re looking for an experienced leader to develop them in our kura; ideally, this person will also be our principal’s nominee for NZQA. This is a key middle leadership role, and we envisage a small teaching component related to the key focus as well as some careers guidance.
We are looking for someone with vision and genuine experience in leadership, someone who ‘gets’ Vocational Pathways and enjoys working with rangatahi. Leading staff and collaborating with our careers team, along with the senior leadership team, will be key to the success of the role.
The principal’s nominee component requires a detail-focused person with a strong grasp of NZQA and the ability to communicate the rules clearly to staff.
Our ideal start date is Term 1 of 2025, but we can consider as late as the start of Term 2.
As a semi-rural school close to Christchurch, at the heart of our community, our development programme is based on a strong vision. We’re in the midst of PB4L, restorative practices, curriculum reform, and cultural capability development. We have 840 students, Y7–13, most of whom are very well supported from home and well connected to their school; some need us to adapt our practice to meet their needs.
Terms and conditions of employment are covered under the Secondary Teachers' Collective Agreement. Overseas applicants must have current NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa, and current NZ teacher registration. Applicants who can demonstrate local competencies are encouraged to apply.
