Workshop Foreman/Manager – Plant Hire – Hitchin Location: Hitchin Salary: Competitive Company Van Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM Holt Recruitment is working on behalf of a well-established plant hire company in Hitchin to find an experienced Workshop Foreman/Manager to lead their workshop operations. This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on leader with a strong background in plant engineering and maintenance, who is also proficient in workshop management and administration. The Role: Overseeing all workshop operations, ensuring plant machinery is maintained, repaired, and inspected to the highest standards. Working hands-on with a variety of plant machinery, including excavators, dumpers, rollers, telehandlers, and powered access equipment. Managing and developing the workshop team, providing training and support to fitters. Ensuring the depot's vehicle fleet is maintained via suppliers, adhering to planned maintenance schedules. Handling administration duties, including raising purchase orders, liaising with customers regarding damage charges, and working closely with suppliers. Maintaining high standards of safety, efficiency, and customer service within the workshop.The Candidate: Experienced Plant Engineer with a strong background in plant hire and machinery maintenance. Capable of working on a wide range of machines and training other fitters. Confident using computer systems for administrative tasks such as POs, customer communication, and supplier liaison. Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop workshop staff.
