The Principal CivilDesign Engineer will support the full lifecycle from leading engagement with new and existing clients and supporting winning of new works, to design delivery and handover at practical completion with a target of safe by design. It will be important to ensure work is completed to time, to required quality standard and within budget. This role will also have scope to represent Integrum at a national level, ensuring all enquires are handled in the appropriate manner and a positive image of the company is always maintained. You will also be key in promoting business development within the design team.,
* Lead the provision of expert advice, input and support associated with the provision of services for our customers and supplier.
Provide professional leadership for the development of engineers aligned to the engineering discipline and undertake professional mentorship of engineers in support of their achievement of professional registration to their relevant Engineering Council.
* Lead the setting of policy and standards, operational processes and systems. Manage the design programs including the team competence development.
* Lead the technical input to the development of the standard design, specifications, means of compliance and KPIs reporting including system risk.
* Set strategy within the technical engineering area in liaison with experts internally and externally to utilise industry best practice.
* Act as Delivery Manager for the project or portfolio of projects and deliver specific Engineering Design deliverable time, cost and quality.
* Identify opportunities for technical and business process improvement and innovation, developing business cases where required.
* Manage Engineering Design Verification and Assurance activities.
Integrate and co-ordinate activity across different engineering disciplines and contribute to the development of engineers within IPE.
* Support the development and implementation of competency frameworks and specify the engineering design discipline training needs.
* Actively support the Principal Design Engineer [Electrical] in the estimating, tendering and planning of new projects.
* Produce, manage and coordinate conceptual designs, detail designs, manufacturing specifications, operational documentation and validation evidence for civil engineering solutions in relation to defined requirements.
* Survey new construction sites and assessing existing structures for upgrades, conduct design verifications to verify the assets are installed as per the approved design.
* Recommend and implement improvements to computer-aided design (CAD) software drawings and schematics.
* Prepare work schedules and allocate resources, as well as supervising junior engineers and sub-contractors.
* Identify and lead opportunities for cost savings, efficiency and business improvements by means of research and innovation to create standard technical solutions.
Chartered Engineer or demonstrate equivalent experience (Level 7)
* A sound knowledge of applicable policies, standards and national legislation
* Experience of developing technology, systems and strategies
* Knowledge of the safety management and risk assessment process
* Broad and extensive experience in the development of engineering technology
* Experience of working in railway/energy infrastructure management or a similar safety critical environment
* Proficiency in civil engineering project management software, such as Civil 3D and CityEngine, as well as CAD;
* Outstanding self-reliance, resourcefulness and initiative, flexible approach and excellent time management.
