EQUANS are recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor to be based in Coleshill, Birmingham. This is a full-time permanent role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary, company car and benefits package.
General Overview
The Senior Quantity Surveyor is responsible for leading all commercial, financial, and contractual aspects of multiple or high-value projects. This senior role focuses on maximising profitability, ensuring comprehensive legal and contractual compliance, and proactively managing all commercial issues. The Senior Quantity Surveyor is also tasked with overseeing the completion of applications and valuations in line with contract terms, ensuring prompt payments to subcontractors, and aligning all activities with the company’s SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality) policy and strategy. In this capacity, the Senior QS plays a pivotal role in guiding the commercial strategy and ensuring successful project delivery from a financial and contractual perspective.
Key Accountabilities
1. Project Financial Management: Oversee the preparation and management of project budgets, forecasts, and financial reports. Ensure rigorous cost control throughout the project lifecycle and manage effective cash collection. Take responsibility for financial performance, providing strategic insights to maximise profitability.
2. Contract Administration: Lead the administration of contracts, including the preparation, negotiation, and finalisation of contract variations. Ensure that all contractual obligations are met, and that legal risks are minimised through robust contract management.
3. Procurement and Tendering: Supervise the procurement process, ensuring the preparation of comprehensive tender documents, careful evaluation of bids, and selection of subcontractors and suppliers. Ensure procurement activities deliver the best value and align with the company’s commercial strategy.
4. Cost Valuation and Reporting: Conduct and oversee regular valuations of work completed, manage payments to subcontractors, and prepare final accounts. Oversee profitability reporting for projects, ensuring the accuracy and robustness of financial reporting (CVRs/WCT) in collaboration with the commercial and operational teams, identifying all risks and opportunities.
5. Risk Management: Take a lead role in identifying, assessing, and managing financial and contractual risks. Develop and implement strategies to mitigate these risks, ensuring the company’s interests are safeguarded at all times.

Who are we looking for?
Qualifications or Required Experience:
* Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
* Extensive industry experience in a Quantity Surveyor role, with substantial post-graduate experience.
* Proven track record in a senior surveying position, with direct responsibility for high-value or multiple projects.
* Deep understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry practices.
* Advanced proficiency in contract law, building regulations, and health and safety regulations.
* Excellent numerical and data analysis skills, with experience in complex financial reporting.
* Proficiency in IT skills, including MS Office (Excel, Project, Word).
* Strong verbal communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.
