Our Engineering Research and Development department (ER&D) is a fast-growing function within Tata Technologies Limited that is assembled to work on exciting projects globally for multiple customers. It comprises highly specialized engineers across Automotive, Aerospace, and Industrial Heavy Machinery.
The Role
The Lead Engineer will be responsible for supporting the Module Leader to ensure service is delivered in the cockpit and console domain. You will manage technical delivery and ensure design issues are resolved. You will work closely with the customer to ensure great service delivery is achieved.
Area of Responsibility
1. Adhere to agreed governance model & maintain and review design dashboard with customer.
2. Weekly reports to customer: design progress, plan vs actual, roadblock/issues & resolutions.
3. Track change management.
4. Forecast of technical issues that may arise as a part of component delivery (design, packaging, supplier DFM, etc).
5. Plan, define, inherit technical best practices, lessons learnt, design/engineering principles into design delivery.
6. Provide inputs and validate component delivery plans w.r.t DFMEA/DVP.
7. Provide benchmarking inputs into design/development of parts/system.
8. Provide/present technical core competency plans to grow company competency to gain complex projects.
9. Provide technical guidance as per domain requirements to PE/DE during a concept to delivery phase of the project.
10. Be the technical excellence link between the customer and the project team to ensure robust and first-time right approach.
11. Help design team with supplier/CFT team discussion of DFM/DFA/DFS.
12. Help team with completion of DVP actions and ensure robust/timely resolution of issues.
Knowledge / Experience
1. Proven experience with product design and systems integration.
2. Ability to lead the resolution of technical and process issues as they arise.
3. Proven track record, experienced in OEM or tier one component delivery.
4. Knowledge of change control, product definition, and change management processes.
5. Mechanical or Automotive Engineering degree.
6. Proficient in CATIA.
