Lead Systems Architect - Defence & Aerospace (H/F)

Carbon60 are working with a leading defence organisation seeking a Mission Planning & Control (MP&C) Lead Architect to support the development of highly complex and mission-critical systems.
Key Details
* Duration: 12 months.
* Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours per week).
* Pay: £550-£600 per day (umbrella, Inside IR35).
* Location: Bristol (at least 3 days per week on-site).
The Role
As Lead Architect, you will play a key role in delivering Mission Planning & Control (MP&C) products for a critical defence system (FC/ASW TP15), supporting UK and international partners. Reporting to the Head of TP15 MP&C, you will:
* Lead the development of MP&C architecture, ensuring integration within the broader Weapon System Architecture.
* Define and maintain the MP&C Architecture Vision.
* Guide and support a team of MP&C architects, overseeing task delegation and work package delivery.
* Ensure coherence between architectural components, focusing on traceability, interface definition, and modularity.
* Provide leadership through progress updates, issue resolution, and collaboration with senior stakeholders.
Required Experience
* Strong background in complex systems architecture, with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience.
* Experience with product-line architectural principles (advantageous).
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build relationships across multi-skilled teams.
* Leadership skills, including task delegation and driving activities across teams.
* Ability to quickly understand and resolve complex technical challenges.
Technical Skills
* IBM Rhapsody (essential) & Systems Modeling Language (SysML).
* IBM Engineering Workflow Management (formerly Rational Team Concert).
* Ideally, DOORS Next Generation.
